Upon arrival in Athens, you are transferred to the hotel.
Athens, the capital of Greece, has a history that dates back to more than 34000 years making it one of the oldest cities of the world. Referred to as ‘the Cradle of Western Civilisation’, Athens is a global city and holds an important position as a financial, commercial and political hub of southeastern Europe.
On reaching the hotel, complete the check-in formalities and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
In the evening, go on a night tour of Athens. The tour will start from the Port of Piraeus, passing by important highlights of the city including City Hall, Mikrolimano, Catholic Cathedral, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Temple of Olympian Zeus, National Library, Athens University and Old Parliament, and ending at the old historical neighbourhood of Plaka. Walk through this neighbourhood, before entering into one of the popular taverns for a delicious dinner, with live Greek folk dance and bouzouki music.
Later, come back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Athens City Tour
Soon after a scrumptious breakfast, embark on a half-day tour of the city of Athens.
The tour starts with a photo stop at Panathenaic Stadium, which is an important monument of Greece. In the year 1896, the first Olympic Games were hosted in this stadium.
Thereafter, drive past Temple of Olympian Zeus and Zappeion.
A Greco-Roman temple, the Temple of Olympian Zeus is an architectural wonder from the bygone era that is in ruins today, but still has a unique charm about it. The Zappeion that lies next to the National Garden is a neo-classical building. It is used for private and public ceremonies and exhibitions.
Later, pass by the Athens Trilogy, which comprises three neo-classical buildings, namely National Library, Athens University and Athens Academy. Continue passing by Hadrian’s Arc, Constitution Square, Catholic Cathedral, St. Paul’s Church, National Garden, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Russian Orthodox Church, Parliament, Old Parliament and Schliemann’s House.
Thereafter, reach the ancient citadel of Acropolis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that houses ruins of many ancient buildings including Parthenon, Propylaia, Temple of Athena Nike and Erechtheion. After exploring this historical site, continue the Athens sightseeing and museum tour with a short walk passing by The Dionysos and Herodion Theatres.
Then, visit the Acropolis Museum (closed on Mondays), which is an archaeological museum where artefacts unearthed from the site of Acropolis have been kept on display.
After the day-long sightseeing experience, come back to the hotel and stay overnight.
Day 3: Day at Leisure in Athens
After a delicious breakfast, head back to your hotel room or spend the day at leisure. You can explore the city on your own, visiting its important attractions and may be even do some shopping.
Later, come back to the hotel and stay overnight.
Day 4: Departure from Athens
After breakfast, check-out from the hotel and transfer to the Athens airport to catch your return flight.
